Africa is the youngest and fastest-growing continent globally, expected to see 375 million young job seekers enter the job market by 2030. As this demographic boom propels Africa’s workforce beyond a billion, the largest in the world, it also highlights a significant gap between available job seekers and formal employment opportunities, posing serious challenges in securing dignified work.
Moreover, a mismatch between the incoming workforce's skills and the requirements of employers has been evident for some time. At TechSpark Foundation, we have set a robust goal for the next decade: by 2030, our initiatives aim to enable millions of young Africans to secure tech employment that they find dignified and fulfilling. Through tech education, we seek to catalyze socio-economic progress and provide a sustainable pathway out of poverty.
By focusing on high-demand tech skills, we prepare students for today’s job market and the economy of tomorrow, aiming to transform Tech education into a tool for radical socio-economic uplift.
We believe in making technology education accessible to high schools in underserved communities. Our classes are designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of python programming, web development, and mobile app development.
We leverage open-source resources and tools to teach students valuable tech skills. The resources are continually updated and refined by developers around the world, ensuring our students learn with the most current, widely-used technologies.
Our mentoring program connects students with seasoned tech professionals who provide guidance, share invaluable insights, and support students' personal and professional growth. This helps students navigate the complexities of the tech industry with confidence.
Our workshops and bootcamps span a few days, and we train both students and teachers in the latest tech skills. Students gain practical experience through project-based learning, while teachers enhance their instructional techniques.
